Major milestone!  (Mine, not hers.)

Our first preschool fundraiser, and I was excited to make something for the bake sale.  I ruled out actually baking, because I’m on Weight Watchers and I thought the smell of cookies or brownies rising in the oven might kill me.  I decided on chocolate dipped pretzels with sprinkles because they sounded easy and fun.

It’s literally three ingredients:

1) Pretzel rods (I bought two packages)

2) Chocolate (I used chips–milk chocolate and white chocolate–melted separately for one minute in the microwave)

3) And sprinkles, dribbled all over the melted chocolate on each pretzel.

Tip #1 – A little chocolate goes a long way, but you need a preposterous amount of sprinkles.  I used all of these:

And then I had to leave my melted chocolate hardening on the counter while I ran to two more stores and cleaned them out of sprinkles:

Tip #2 – The sprinkles, stars and sanding sugar worked great, but anything bigger than a grain of rice slides off the pretzel and goes plop.

I had fun with color combinations, and my pretzels ended up like snowflakes – no two exactly alike, and fun to taste.

The last step is to layer them on sheets of wax paper and refrigerate for 24 hours.

Your pretzels will look like this:

And your child will look like an evil dictator a silent movie star.

Happy non-baking!
