Have we met?
Freelance writer, mom blogger, pop culture lover.
I’m Amy, a former reality television producer and advertising executive finally living the dream of writing barefoot while raising my daughters and occasionally feeding my very understanding husband. You might know me from my freelance work, which appears regularly at places like The Huffington Post, mom.me, Momtastic and PopSugar. A few of my posts went viral – in a non-germy way – including “40 Effed Up Things about Being 40” and “You’ll Always Be My First.” Once upon a time, I studied English literature at the University of Pennsylvania and I still love books, especially in paper form. I force my kids to listen to 80s music. I will never give up pasta.

How to Survive A Move With Little Kids

Major Barbie news out of Mattel this week--after decades of world domination, the Aryan goddess with the 16 inch waist will finally share her Dream House with buddies who are short, tall, curvy and ethnically diverse. This is awesome. Little girls should be able to...
The “It” Holiday Present for Little Girls and Other Unicorn-Lovers
Momtastic asked me and my 4-year-old Viv to shoot some videos for Hasbro's hot new toy, FurReal Friends Starlily My Magical Unicorn. Yeah, that's a mouthful (especially for me to say in the commercial) but Starlily deserves her many names, because she does so many...
21 Things Every Mom Thinks When Her Kid is Home Sick
I never knew about getting sick until I had two kids. When I was young and unencumbered, if I felt a cold coming on, I’d make a point of ordering a screwdriver at the bar that night. You know, for the vitamin C. And then, by the next day, I was usually fine....
7 Ways I’m a Different Mom With my Second Kid
Like fingerprints and snowflakes, no two kids turn out the same. Is it just their genes, or is it us? I didn't plan on parenting differently the second time around, yet I feel like I've become such a different mom. Here's how I've changed: 1. I'm Smarter - As a...
On a Scale from Tori Spelling to Never, When Do Most Women Want Postpartum Sex?
Let's talk about sex, baby. Or more accurately, sex after baby. A friend recently confided in me that after giving birth to her first child, she lost her sex drive for a long time. She remembers sadly mourning her old friend, sex. "I'd always been a really sexual...
