Have we met?
Freelance writer, mom blogger, pop culture lover.
I’m Amy, a former reality television producer and advertising executive finally living the dream of writing barefoot while raising my daughters and occasionally feeding my very understanding husband. You might know me from my freelance work, which appears regularly at places like The Huffington Post, mom.me, Momtastic and PopSugar. A few of my posts went viral – in a non-germy way – including “40 Effed Up Things about Being 40” and “You’ll Always Be My First.” Once upon a time, I studied English literature at the University of Pennsylvania and I still love books, especially in paper form. I force my kids to listen to 80s music. I will never give up pasta.

My Husband Thinks I’m a Hoarder
I’ll admit it—I’ve saved every letter written to me at sleepaway camp circa 1984. And all of my concert t-shirts. And my sixth grade sticker collection. And the satin unicorn with rainbow streamers that hung over my childhood bed. My husband, on the other hand,...
My 3-Year-Old’s Obsession with Pregnancy, Pubic Hair and Birth
“Do I have a uterus?” my 3-year-old wants to know. “Yes!” I tell her enthusiastically. “When you’re an adult, if you decide to have a baby, it will grow in your uterus.” “So I have a uterus all day?” “Yes.” “Does Daddy have a uterus?” This is the sort of conversation...
Christmas in Solvang
If you live outside California, you may never have heard of Solvang- a charming village near Santa Barbara that was founded by Danish settlers in 1911 (the name Solvang means "Sunny Fields" in Danish). When deciding whether to visit Solvang, ask yourself, is your...
7 Reasons I Hate Wearing a Bra
Loyal Readers: I wrote the following post for mom.me. When I write for that site, they judge me based on number of views. So if you want to read my bra story (because it's funny!) please do, but if you don't have time and want to help a girl out, just click on the...
