Have we met?
Freelance writer, mom blogger, pop culture lover.
I’m Amy, a former reality television producer and advertising executive finally living the dream of writing barefoot while raising my daughters and occasionally feeding my very understanding husband. You might know me from my freelance work, which appears regularly at places like The Huffington Post, mom.me, Momtastic and PopSugar. A few of my posts went viral – in a non-germy way – including “40 Effed Up Things about Being 40” and “You’ll Always Be My First.” Once upon a time, I studied English literature at the University of Pennsylvania and I still love books, especially in paper form. I force my kids to listen to 80s music. I will never give up pasta.

The 80’s Movies I Can’t Wait to Show My Daughter
The last time my 3-year-old was home sick from school, I ran out of kids’ movies to watch and wound up showing her a good chunk of "Dirty Dancing." I knew it wasn’t age-appropriate for my preschooler, but the whole Penny-needs-an-abortion plot went right over head,...

When my daughter was born, I bowed out of an exciting and lucrative career in television production because I wasn’t ready to leave her. I couldn’t figure out a way to do TV part time, so I settled into being a stay-at-home mom who sometimes writes (while wearing a...
My Shockingly Big First Trimester Baby Bump
For the past few weeks, I’ve been making like a pregnant sitcom star—hiding behind huge handbags and ensuring I’m only photographed from the waist up. That’s because I started showing WAY before I was ready to share my pregnancy news. I’d heard that bellies pop out a...
I’m So Happy (& Miserable) Now That I’m Pregnant
I have a fun new job chronicling my pregnancy at Momtastic. Here's my first installment. There will be a new post up on Momtastic each Thursday. For two and a half years, I wished on every star, eyelash, and birthday candle that I would get pregnant. I had almost...
What I Just Learned About Blogging, Controversy and Respecting My Readers
In case you missed it, I wrote a piece last week about Amal Alamuddin taking George Clooney’s last name when they married. In the article, I said I was disappointed that such a professionally accomplished woman would choose to follow what I consider to be an outdated...
