Have we met?
Freelance writer, mom blogger, pop culture lover.
I’m Amy, a former reality television producer and advertising executive finally living the dream of writing barefoot while raising my daughters and occasionally feeding my very understanding husband. You might know me from my freelance work, which appears regularly at places like The Huffington Post, mom.me, Momtastic and PopSugar. A few of my posts went viral – in a non-germy way – including “40 Effed Up Things about Being 40” and “You’ll Always Be My First.” Once upon a time, I studied English literature at the University of Pennsylvania and I still love books, especially in paper form. I force my kids to listen to 80s music. I will never give up pasta.

My Baby Daddy Left Me On Facebook
The father of my child just abandoned me—on Facebook, that is. He quit the social media machine, claiming it’s a time-suck that has gotten less personal and more annoying over the years. I think he’s crazy. Without Facebook, how would I know which Scandal character...
Mom Falls for Oldest Trick In The Book
Viv gets up at 5:30 this morning. This is early even for her. I plop her in front of Dora and go to make a gallon of coffee. Mom, can I have scissors and paper for cutting? Oh, thank God, my kid has picked today to finally start entertaining herself, and with...
10 Books My 3-Year-Old Daughter Is Loving Right Now
I started taking a children's book writing class because, you know, fantasy work-from-home job. The class has made me appreciate how hard it is to craft a kick-ass kids' book--one that grabs my daughter's imagination AND doesn't make me want to shoot myself when I...
10 Truths About Taking Little Ones To Disneyland
Maybe three was too young. Maybe it wasn’t smart to go on President’s Day Weekend--and during “Jamzilla,” the closure of our main LA freeway. Maybe I should have brought a towel. There was peer pressure, though. For most people, going to Disney is a monumental...
The Valentine’s Day Advice You Didn’t Ask For
Until five years ago, most of my Valentine’s Days were comically awful. There was the time I carelessly ended a college relationship on February 14, thinking a nice dinner and chocolate would somehow soften the blow. Or the night an overzealous Valentine nibbled my...
