Have we met?
Freelance writer, mom blogger, pop culture lover.
I’m Amy, a former reality television producer and advertising executive finally living the dream of writing barefoot while raising my daughters and occasionally feeding my very understanding husband. You might know me from my freelance work, which appears regularly at places like The Huffington Post, mom.me, Momtastic and PopSugar. A few of my posts went viral – in a non-germy way – including “40 Effed Up Things about Being 40” and “You’ll Always Be My First.” Once upon a time, I studied English literature at the University of Pennsylvania and I still love books, especially in paper form. I force my kids to listen to 80s music. I will never give up pasta.

This Never Would Have Happened Before We Were Parents
Last weekend, Dave and I had a very special date night planned: popcorn, Netflix and the couch. What’s better than that? The movie of choice was Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring, the based-on-a-true story of Hollywood teenagers who robbed the homes of their celebrity...
Our Future Flower Girl
We're 10 months out from our wedding (frightening to read that back, since that time frame implies I should be, um, planning something?), so I decided it was time to start training our daughter to be a flower girl. Certainly, that would be easier than any of the...
Why Can’t Adults See A Kids’ Dentist?
When I go to the dentist, it's a horror show. I'm so scared, I usually cancel 2-3 appointments before committing. Then I'll pop whatever expired pain medication I can find in my medicine cabinet and weave my way over there on foot. It hurts like hell anyway, and I...
Fun with Photo Printers
I know we live in a digital age, but I still love to hold a photo in my hands. It feels more personal. More meaningful. Have you noticed this? When you bother to print out a photo, it's that one shot you love enough to frame, rescued from a sea of Instagrams, most...
What Is It With Mothers, Daughters & Hair?
My 2-year-old daughter Viv has the most beautiful hair. Too bad she won’t let me touch it. A hairbrush might as well be a machete by the way she runs screaming: “No mommy! Not my hair!” When Viv first resisted my efforts to comb out her easily tangled mop, I thought...
One Way I’m Glad My Daughter’s Not Like Me
When I was about six, our neighbors on the cul-de-sac invited my family over for ice cream. The neighbors, while lovely, were totally overwhelming to me – six boisterous kids of all ages, mostly boys. My goal at their house was to be invisible, so I copped a squat...
