Have we met?
Freelance writer, mom blogger, pop culture lover.
I’m Amy, a former reality television producer and advertising executive finally living the dream of writing barefoot while raising my daughters and occasionally feeding my very understanding husband. You might know me from my freelance work, which appears regularly at places like The Huffington Post, mom.me, Momtastic and PopSugar. A few of my posts went viral – in a non-germy way – including “40 Effed Up Things about Being 40” and “You’ll Always Be My First.” Once upon a time, I studied English literature at the University of Pennsylvania and I still love books, especially in paper form. I force my kids to listen to 80s music. I will never give up pasta.

Love in The Afternoon: My Close Encounter With A General Hospital Star
When I saw Scotty Baldwin sitting alone at the hotel bar, I couldn't stay away. The man was a legend. He had caught the bouquet at Luke & Laura's wedding, threatened to contest his divorce from Laura, and started a fistfight with Luke, nearly landing them both in...
40 Effed Up Things About Being 40
After a few years of not being able to read the fine print (apologies to my kid for the guess-the-dose Infant Advil), I broke down and bought my first pair of reading glasses. At the drug store counter, it was like the reverse of a teen nervously buying condoms. ...
Guess What? I’m Offensive!
Lord, I’ve upset the Catholics. Okay, just one Catholic, writing for AltCatholicah.com, in a post that was picked up by pop culture website Acculturated. Go read it, I’ll wait. Here’s the author’s beef with me – when Leigh Fitzpatrick Snead reads a mom blog, she...
My Daughter’s Superpower
I’ve never spent a night away from my child. This is not a badge of honor – more like a virginity that I’m desperate to lose but can’t because I've got no game. Sometime after Viv turned two, I realized I was ready for a little bit of adult time. I wasn’t...
5 Fun Ways To Entertain Your Baby (Without Losing Your Mind)
I was due to write a new post for Circle of Moms, and I still had my brother and sister-in-law, imminent parents to be, on my mind. So I wrote this. Of course you want to bond with your new baby and stimulate her rapidly developing brain, but how do you play with...
To My Brother & Sister-In-Law At Their Baby Shower (Practical Advice For New Parents)
Dear Jordan and Lana, I wish that Dave and I could be at your baby shower to celebrate, but as you may know, parents of small children rarely go anywhere. So instead, I’ve jotted down some words of wisdom that I hope you’ll find wise and not too wordy. People think a...
