Have we met?
Freelance writer, mom blogger, pop culture lover.
I’m Amy, a former reality television producer and advertising executive finally living the dream of writing barefoot while raising my daughters and occasionally feeding my very understanding husband. You might know me from my freelance work, which appears regularly at places like The Huffington Post, mom.me, Momtastic and PopSugar. A few of my posts went viral – in a non-germy way – including “40 Effed Up Things about Being 40” and “You’ll Always Be My First.” Once upon a time, I studied English literature at the University of Pennsylvania and I still love books, especially in paper form. I force my kids to listen to 80s music. I will never give up pasta.

I Need A Miracle
I felt pregnant. It was our third IVF attempt, and it seemed like they’d finally gotten my drug protocol right. We made four gorgeous embryos, two of which were top rated, one of which was 8-celled, symmetrical and seemingly perfect. I was so certain I’d get pregnant...

Dave and I are not morning people. That was a nice thing to have in common pre-baby, but it's a total liability now. When our daughter's cries shatter the silence at dawn, we bury our faces in our pillows and try to imagine she belongs to the family next door. Since...
Lessons of Toddlerhood That May Not Hold Up Well In Adulthood
My job as a parent is to teach my toddler how the world works. I make sure she knows that stoves are hot, snow is cold and it’s always nice to share – especially Halloween candy, with your mother. But despite my best efforts, a lot of what my daughter is learning in...
14 Things NOT to Get Your Husband For Valentine’s Day (Guest Post)
Earlier this week, my post 14 Things NOT to Get Your Wife For Valentine's Day ran on Dad or Alive. I encourage you to check out the hilarious comments over there, including the true tale of a woman who received a Thighmaster as a Valentine's Day gift. Yes, that was...
14 Things Not To Get Your Wife For Valentine’s Day
Adrian at Dad or Alive pitched me the idea of writing this list as a public service. His answer, "14 Things Not To Get Your Husband..." will appear later this week. 1. Lingerie – Unless your wife is an actual Victoria’s Secret model, in which case you’ll be doing...
