Have we met?
Freelance writer, mom blogger, pop culture lover.
I’m Amy, a former reality television producer and advertising executive finally living the dream of writing barefoot while raising my daughters and occasionally feeding my very understanding husband. You might know me from my freelance work, which appears regularly at places like The Huffington Post, mom.me, Momtastic and PopSugar. A few of my posts went viral – in a non-germy way – including “40 Effed Up Things about Being 40” and “You’ll Always Be My First.” Once upon a time, I studied English literature at the University of Pennsylvania and I still love books, especially in paper form. I force my kids to listen to 80s music. I will never give up pasta.

The Breastfeeding Bride
I had this dream last night: I’m walking down the aisle in a gorgeous couture bridal gown (it’s my dream, I can wear what I want to). Dave is waiting for me at the altar. Our eyes meet. Out of nowhere, a baby cries. And then all of a sudden, I have Fembot boobs,...
Is That What My Friends-Without-Kids Really Think of Me, Kim Kardashian?
The other night, Dave and I got sucked into Kim & Kourtney Take Miami. As always, the Kardashians really made me think. On this episode, Kourtney had recently given birth to baby Penelope and Kim was annoyed by her formerly partying sister’s child-centric ways. ...
My Toddler is Making Me Fat
Call me a hypocrite. No, it's okay, I can take it. I write about how we need to be kind to ourselves and never trash talk our weight in front of our kids. And then I go and use the F word on myself. Loophole: Viv can't read yet. So until she can, I'm just going...
Old School Rules
While cool kids strive towards ever more advanced, portable and tiny phones, I just bought the most gigantic, tethered landline I could find. That’s right, we're talking to you corded. Call it kitschy, retro or ridiculous, but I love my new wall phone, just like the...
How Mommy & Me Burst My Bubble
At my first day in Mommy & Me, I made a new friend. We seemed so much alike; both of us were bubbly blondes and first-time mothers to 3-month-old babies. We even shared the same alma mater. “What year did you graduate?” she asked, as excited as I was to find...
Things To Do During Naptime When Nobody Naps
Viv turned two today, and since I've learned so much during the past two years about good parenting, I gave her cupcakes for breakfast. Then I ran her around the park for a couple of hours, hoping to burn off the sugar rush. But she was still high as a kite when we...
