Have we met?
Freelance writer, mom blogger, pop culture lover.
I’m Amy, a former reality television producer and advertising executive finally living the dream of writing barefoot while raising my daughters and occasionally feeding my very understanding husband. You might know me from my freelance work, which appears regularly at places like The Huffington Post, mom.me, Momtastic and PopSugar. A few of my posts went viral – in a non-germy way – including “40 Effed Up Things about Being 40” and “You’ll Always Be My First.” Once upon a time, I studied English literature at the University of Pennsylvania and I still love books, especially in paper form. I force my kids to listen to 80s music. I will never give up pasta.

Rules That Were Made to Be Broken (On Halloween)
Never take candy from strangers. No running in the street. Don't feed the animals. No trespassing. We keep our hands to ourselves. Happy Opposite Day from Carriage Before Marriage.
Back Off, Stay-at-Home Dads

My friend Jen, clever mother of two, sent me helium balloons on my birthday because she knew how much Viv would enjoy playing with them. I don't know what kind of crazy advances they've made in Mylar lately but this one hung on for five weeks, floating around at knee...
The Birds, The Bees & The Test Tube
We’re deep into the IVF process now, and this past weekend, doctors harvested my eggs. They didn’t even buy me dinner first. Dave and I conceived our first child naturally, in a cartoonishly ideal way: on vacation in Waikiki, waves crashing outside our balcony, the...
REALLY!?! with Amy: IVF Edition
One of my favorite Saturday Night Live bits ever was Seth Myers and Amy Poehler doing "REALLY!?!" during Weekend Update. I've found myself channeling them a lot this week. I mean, the fertility doctors we're paying to get me pregnant have like 30 years of medical...
Instructions for Robot, aka the 30 Things I Do Most Each Day
Have you ever seen The Stepford Wives—the awesome original or the campy/crappy remake? I got to thinking about the robot that would replace me if I lived in Stepford, and how easy it would be to program it. There are only about 30 things that I do all day – I just do...
