Have we met?
Freelance writer, mom blogger, pop culture lover.
I’m Amy, a former reality television producer and advertising executive finally living the dream of writing barefoot while raising my daughters and occasionally feeding my very understanding husband. You might know me from my freelance work, which appears regularly at places like The Huffington Post, mom.me, Momtastic and PopSugar. A few of my posts went viral – in a non-germy way – including “40 Effed Up Things about Being 40” and “You’ll Always Be My First.” Once upon a time, I studied English literature at the University of Pennsylvania and I still love books, especially in paper form. I force my kids to listen to 80s music. I will never give up pasta.

My Blonde Ambition
Has anyone ever made a comment on your appearance, positive or negative, that changed your perception of yourself, like, forever? For me, it was when a hair stylist described the natural color of my tresses as “mousy brown.” I was in my early 20s, trying to dress for...
5 Things I Miss About The Newborn Stage

A couple of weeks ago, I found out I'd be appearing on The Ricki Lake Show. My friend Jessica is a producer there and she pitched me as a guest. At first, I was skeptical. I don't know if you remember Ricki's syndicated daytime talk show from the 90s, but it was...
What I’ve Learned From Celebrities About Relationships
My boyfriend Dave and I are approaching our 3 ½ year anniversary and I’m pretty sure that makes me a relationship expert. How did I get so smart? Easy. Everything I know about relationships, I learned from the tabloids. If you have doubts or concerns about your...
My Babysitter Is Better At This Than I Am
When observing your kids’ caregivers in action, do you ever get an inferiority complex? I’m SAHM-ing it these days, but I swear our date night babysitter puts my parenting to shame. She’s like the Latina Mary Poppins: cheerful yet calm, confident yet flexible and...
My Anti-Bucket List: 10 Things I Have No Interest In Doing Before I Die
Damn that Morgan Freeman–the whole world is bucket list crazy. Walking through any airport bookstore, I’m bombarded with thousands of things I should be doing, seeing, reading and eating before I die. Too many things! Can’t be done! Time is precious, sure, but is...
