Have we met?
Freelance writer, mom blogger, pop culture lover.
I’m Amy, a former reality television producer and advertising executive finally living the dream of writing barefoot while raising my daughters and occasionally feeding my very understanding husband. You might know me from my freelance work, which appears regularly at places like The Huffington Post, mom.me, Momtastic and PopSugar. A few of my posts went viral – in a non-germy way – including “40 Effed Up Things about Being 40” and “You’ll Always Be My First.” Once upon a time, I studied English literature at the University of Pennsylvania and I still love books, especially in paper form. I force my kids to listen to 80s music. I will never give up pasta.

Diary of a Kitchen Renovation, Part 7 – We’re Cooking With Gas! (AFTER PICS)
I was having fun, snarking about all the unfun surprises, delays and headaches that go into renovating a kitchen, but I've had the snark smacked out of me by the beauty that is our totally remodeled, still tiny, but dreamy-to-me kitchen. Would you like to take a tour?...
Diary of a Kitchen Renovation, Part 6 – Check Out Our New Look!
I just realized that I haven't written a kitchen renovation update in an entire month. So much has happened, and I know you're all dying to see it. Please, come in! Just don't sit down. Here's something new to show off: it's a slab of reclaimed wood where our window...
How We Stay Connected To Family Through Hand-Me-Down Kids’ Clothes
It kills me that my little brother lives on the opposite coast. Each of us has two young daughters, so in a perfect world, they'd be growing up together, playing on teams, throwing fabulous tea parties and swapping sleepovers. Instead, we rely on Facetime and...
Diary of a Kitchen Renovation, Part 5 – Running Away
I talked Dave into going away Memorial Day weekend so I didn't have to face 9 meals with no kitchen. Our kids - now 4 and 8 - are finally at an age where they can really entertain each other, playing kid games in kid language. I have heard this time in parenting...
Diary of a Kitchen Renovation, Part 4 – Slow-Downs and Screw-Ups
It's inevitable, right? These kitchen renovations never go perfectly smoothly. But, Gah! Human error is annoying. Since last we talked, we got drywall and paint. Yay! And then we got half a floor. Booo! I don't want to point fingers, so all I can say is that math IS...
Diary of a Kitchen Renovation, Part 3 – But on the Bright Side…
I did not go to architecture, urban planning or design school, and my Pinterest boards are all pictures of cake, so I feel entirely unqualified to take part in this kitchen renovation, even though it is my kitchen. In the past week, I've had to choose a height for the...
